Bahnsen was the Best
Greg L. Bahnsen versus Gorden Stein. “Does God exist?”
This famous debate took place at the University of California, Irvine in 1985.
I listened to the entire debate (14 parts) while paying bills this morning. Part 5 in particular stands out. Bahnsen was one of the best Christian apologists of our time. He died December 11, 1995. He was 47.
Interestingly enough, Stein died less than a year later. He was 55.
For those who are interested, the full debate is on youtube. Here is the transcript:

My husband took a class under him. He says he was amazing. Bahnsen studied under Cornelius Van Til – another amazing apologist. Bahnsen eats Stein’s cake the whole way in this debate. Truly incredible. I love it. Bahnsen was a brain – unusually so. I love hearing Robert talk about his times of talking with him – he has a lot of respect for him.

What an incredible opportunity that was. I bought his presuppositional apologetics and “basic training” material and went through it with the kids back when we were in NC. They were way too young at the time though.
I think I’ll get it back out and dust it off. I’d heard about this debate for years but this was the first time I’d listened to it. He was pretty amazing!
