He was the first President I voted for.
One of the few ballots I’ve cast with no remorse.
He was a decent man and a fine Conservative. There is just no one like him anymore.
When he died, I cried like a baby. This I don’t do very often.
I pray that God will continue to raise up leaders like this man.

I share your sentiments. I recall his first couple of years as President. It was so much fun to be an American in those days. Once our fighter planes shot down to Libyan fighter planes. The next day the press asked the President if he was awakened with the news that our country shot down two Libyan fighter planes. He replied, ‘No, they only wake me up when they shoot down our planes.’ lol He was so much fun to watch.

I know… he had an incredible wit. His critics tried to paint him as just an actor with a canned personality which was clearly not the case.
When he justly ordered that air strike on Libya, Qaddafi responded like a lamb not a lion. To the chagrin of Reagan’s disgruntled critics.

happy 100th birthday
i loved Ronald Reagan.
i still haven’t recovered
from the cancellation of his outdoor inaugural ceremony in jan ’85. my dad still chuckles about how relieved he is that someone else called it off that day because his *cough* hard-headed daughter was so determined to be there in spite of some crazy wind chill factor like negative 10 below.
i took the kids to watch his funeral procession on the corner of pa ave. and cried as they waved at little nancy.
thanks for posting this beth.
I’ll always remember the place I was while listening to his funeral. What an incredible man, and the impact he might have had as a statesman in later life if Alzhiemers had not robbed us of him too soon.
+ he was a fun actor with my lovely Doris Day….We appreciated Ronald Reagon the president too ….Irac-matters was harsh on him, but he challenged people to be optimistic again….It is a good thing to remember the good things.
I have this very odd thought: Isn’t it strange that young women vote for Grandfathers ????
We were awfully afraid to go out into the world with what we knew back then…our daughters are so much more educated and sensible young women. Let us not be mistaken: our daughters will manage the future as much as men uses to !
I will vote for the first female minister-president my country will putt forward….Up untill now it is a killing field for wome nin politics
