  • Great birthday yesterday

    My Guy since 1985

We went to see “True Grit” as a family yesterday afternoon and then went for pizza afterwards.

    Fantastic movie, btw.

Afterwards we went over to Whit’s place and shared in the joy of their recent engagement. Jay made the formal announcement.

    Love these two!  ❤

Jay heads off to Med. School tomorrow and Whit heads back to UVA in a couple of weeks. We’re hoping to see Jay in April sometime.

I can’t believe how fast life “travels”. My Dad use to say it to me all the time when I was younger. He was right….

  • You daughters look like Gillian Anderson and Angelina Jolie! With your Catholic-sized family there’s always a birthday around there someplace!!

  • @LoBornlytesThoughtPalace -

We have 2 this month in fact… and 2 the next :D
We take April, July and Sept off; the other months are booked.

I call Erin, Eringelina. Sarah looks quite a bit like Sigourney Weaver which is awesome because Ellen Ripley is my favorite movie hero. You gotta love Alien/Aliens! ;)

  • HaPpY belated BirthDaY!!! movie, pizza, family, together ~ sounds like a good time.
i’m trying to remember your family…this will be your first married child, is that right?

  • Your family is beautiful! Congratulations on the engagement… and happy birthday!

  • SO happy for you all, and for Jay & his beautiful bride-to-be! I know this time of separation for them won’t be easy, but what exciting things they have in store to look forward to! I love the joy & shine on both their faces! God is SO good!

  • Happy Birthday and Congrats to the newly engaged couple!

And thanks for the True Grit rec…I loved the old one and I was wondering if the new one would measure up.

  • @Ariadone -

Thank- YOU, Godeliva! I seriously believe you will have some familiar american faces show up on your door step one of these days. Keep up your wonderful english skills and remember the invitation goes both ways!! :)

    @tommytones -

I hate to admit it (and I’m not entirely sure why) but Jeff Bridges outdoes The Duke. He and the movie are phenomenal! But the young lady steals the show… IMHO :)

  • love all the pictures!! sweet shots of jay and whit. i’m always struck by how pretty whit is whenever i see her. like the shot of you and jeff w/ them – two great couples.

    happy new year. xo

  • @grace2be -

I know!! I feel the same way when I look at her. Jay’s nickname for her is “Beautiful” (aka ~ “The most beautiful woman in the world”). I love that!!

    Happy New Year!!

  • I always love these kind of posts of your family. You all just radiate joy! Congratulations. What a blessing to see the love.
Good to hear your rec for the movie. The original being a childhood favorite…I wondered about this version. We saw John Wayne at Catalina Island soon after seeing the movie. My little sister ran up and twirled in front of him and exclaimed, “JOHN WAYNE, my hero!” As you can imagine he chuckled and said “hello little lady!”

  • “There’s still time for you…”

The preciousness of these days are not lost on me.
